Qualifications
When I work with people I use a combination of Performance Coaching, Life Coaching, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Hypnotherapy and Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT). Also, as required: common sense, reason and logic, and a sense of humour!
Working backwards, I most recently qualified as an RTT Therapist and Certified Hypnotherapist with Marisa Peer in 2021. Previously I qualified as a Certified Hypnotherapist with the IIHNLP&H in 2007, as an NLP Trainer in 2003, Master Practitioner in 2001, and Practitioner in 1998.
I qualified with a PGCE (Primary) in 1991, an MSc in Philosophy (Edinburgh) in 1988, Diploma in Theology (Oxon) 1987 and BA in English Literature and Language (Oxon) 1984 (upgraded to an MA in 1989).
My values
Over 20 years ago, when training as an NLP practitioner I did a simple exercise to identify my values. To help me remember the results, I made my values into an acrostic: I decided I have A BUnCH of great values. Standing for
Authenticity
Being fully alive
Unconditional love
Creativity
Harmony
I realised that being authentic really mattered to me – or in other words, I valued truth, and being true to myself, whatever the outward pressures to conform. I also valued feeling alive (having a sense of wonder and freshness every day), saw Love as the greatest value (even if loving enemies is hard), felt most alive and myself when being creative and preferred harmony to conflict (though as authenticity came first I would if need be choose that over harmony).
When I revisit them now I am aware how they haven’t changed, even while the outer circumstances of my life have changed considerably.
I share this not because my values are the ‘right’ ones or to recommend them, but as an example of why authenticity so matters to me and why I so love helping others live their authentic lives.
About Peter
I appreciate it’s a big step to reach out to a therapist or a coach and you want to find out, “Who are they? What are they like?” I know I do!
This page says a bit about who I am, the methods I use, the qualifications I have and the values I hold.

Professional Me
I have not followed a conventional career path, but have always done work that I have loved, involved a lot of learning and needed me to grow as a person. I have
- Taught for a year in a secondary school in rural Kenya
- Spent 3 very intensive years working 80 hour weeks with ‘emotionally disturbed’ children at the Cotswold Community
- Taught more conventionally in a primary school in Somerset
- Been the headteacher of a rural primary school in Somerset, known for its innovative approach to teaching
- Facilitated thousands of teachers and Headteachers on leadership programmes in London and South West England
- Worked as a Coach to Headteachers and been the lead facilitator on the National Local Leaders of Education programme, teaching coaching skills to some of England’s most successful Headteachers
- Created an Advanced Coaching Skills programme for teachers, now offered to therapists who seek coaching skills alongside their therapeutic skills
- I have also founded and am Director of 20Q Ltd., a tech company offering online Leadership 360°s in the UK and internationally
For me, qualifying as an RTT therapist adds a brilliant new dimension to my previous work as a Coach, NLP practitioner and hypnotherapist. I can help people change quicker and more powerfully than ever before.
Like any professional I take care to invest in the best possible tools for the tasks in hand.
Personal Me
While working intensely at the Cotswold Community in the 1980s I worked alongside and fell in love with Sue, and we’ve been married since 1989. We’re blessed with three wonderful children. In 2008 I spent 14 months designing and project managing the conversion of a run down barn into our current home.
Sue works therapeutically to support families with adopted children and we both enjoy offering hospitality to family, friends and people on therapeutic retreats. We both enjoy creating a beautiful garden and travel with a touch of adventure. I like to feel rooted and relax by walking the dog or chainsawing or splitting logs!
I’ve travelled to the DRC and am treasurer of www.semiliki-trust.org.uk a charity supporting health and education in the DRC, one of the most challenging places in the world.
Part of living your authentic life is being able to think for yourself. I believe this has got harder with a widespread lack of understanding that we think in three different ways. To find out more go to www.thinkingforeveryone.com
I am very happy with my life, but along the way I’ve experienced anxiety, imposter syndrome, limiting beliefs around money, health and relationships: I’ve been significantly overweight, suffered emotional pain from being sent to boarding school at the age of eight, worried about debt, and lacked confidence.
I can’t claim to have experienced every problem in the world but I have experience of a good range of them, and if you had a situation that I felt I genuinely could not help I can probably recommend someone who is able to help. Do get in touch!
